Imagine hiking for three days through one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Brazil: the Vale do Pati, in the heart of Chapada Diamantina.
Often described as the most beautiful trek in the country, this journey takes you through towering canyons, hidden waterfalls, dramatic plateaus, and unforgettable viewpoints.
But this experience is more than just a trek. It’s a full immersion into wild nature. You’ll cross highland fields, pristine forests, and ancient rock formations sculpted by time. Every twist of the trail reveals something new: the majestic view from Cachoeirão from above, the sacred silence of Morro do Castelo, and refreshing natural pools like the stunning Cachoeira do Funil.
What truly makes the Vale do Pati 3-Day Trek unique is the chance to live inside the valley: sleeping in local homes, tasting traditional meals lovingly prepared, and feeling the warmth and hospitality of the native families who call this magical place home.
At night, far from cities and lights, the starry sky of Chapada Diamantina becomes the roof to stories, laughter, and meaningful connection.
Our small-group treks ensure personalized attention, safety, and an authentic encounter with the valley’s culture and nature. Our passionate guides are always eager to share local legends, secrets, and their deep love for this sacred land.

Pati Valley 3 days Trek Overview
Pati Viewpoint and Funil River Descent
Day 1
Distance: 11 km
Starting Altitude: 1080 m
Highest Point: 1340 m
Lowest Point: 920 m
Our adventure begins early, with a two-hour drive from Lençóis to the charming village of Guiné, the starting point of the Pati trail.
The trek starts with a steady 30-minute climb to the Aleixo Viewpoint, offering our first sweeping view of the mountains guarding the valley.
We continue through the famous Gerais do Rio Preto, vast open highlands with native vegetation painting beautiful contrasts against the sky. After about an hour, we reach the spectacular Pati Viewpoint, a perfect spot to rest and take in the view of the valley below.
The descent into the Pati Valley is an exciting transition, taking us into a world of green. A short stretch along the Funis River involves a mix of rock-hopping, balance, and small climbs, adding a fun sense of adventure.
The reward? A revitalizing swim at the Cachoeira do Funil, surrounded by towering green walls that seem to protect this hidden gem.
A final 30-minute walk brings us to the home of a local family, where we spend our first night lulled by the sound of the river nearby.

Castle Mountain
Day 2
Distance: 8 km
Starting Altitude: 920 m
Highest Point: 1390 m
Lowest Point: 920 m
After a hearty breakfast, we head toward one of the most iconic landmarks of the Vale do Pati: Morro do Castelo.
The ascent takes around 1.5 hours, passing through shaded forest trails, tree roots, and rocky steps that make the climb both fun and challenging.
At the top, a 360° view of the Chapada’s heart opens up before us: valleys, canyons, and mountains as far as the eye can see.
We circle the plateau until we reach a massive balancing boulder. It is the perfect spot for our picnic with views of Calixto Valley and its distant waterfall.
After this magical moment, we descend, collect our belongings, and hike to the home of another local family where we’ll spend our second night.
Dinner is once again a warm, wood-fired home-cooked meal, capping the day with comfort and authenticity.

Cachoeirão from Above
Day 3
Distance: 16 km
Starting Altitude: 920 m
Highest Point: 1280 m
Lowest Point: 820 m
Our final day begins early and promises to be the most thrilling of all.
We hike up through the Fenda da Prefeitura, a narrow rocky passage that leads to two incredible viewpoints. The first is Pedra do Jacaré, offering a new angle on Morro do Castelo. Then, we continue on to the Cachoeirão from above: one of the absolute highlights of the trek.
From the cliff's edge, we gaze down on dozens of waterfalls plunging nearly 300 meters into a vast canyon.
Depending on the season, the falls may be flowing heavily or reduced to a trickle, but the view is always surreal: postcard perfect.
We take time for photos at iconic spots like Pedra da Tartaruga and a suspended slab that seems to float above the abyss.
Afterwards, we descend to the natural pool of Cachoeirão, where we enjoy lunch and a final swim before beginning the journey back.
The return hike takes us once again through the Gerais do Rio Preto, with a final view from the Aleixo Viewpoint before descending into Guiné, where our transport will be waiting to take us back to Lençóis.
Important Information: During the dry season, the Cachoeirão and its natural pool are almost dry, but even so, the view of the valley below and the surrounding cliffs remains unforgettable.
