Chapada Backpackers was born from the dream of two passionate travelers, Thomas and Eric, who arrived in Lençóis and were captivated by the unique energy of Chapada Diamantina. Inspired by their own adventures, they decided to create more than just a travel agency: they wanted to offer a meeting point between travelers, local guides, and the rich cultural and natural heritage of the region.

We started by organizing small groups to explore hidden trails, secret waterfalls, and historic villages. Over time, we grew but without losing our essence: close and personal service, respect for nature, and a strong connection with the local community.

Today, Chapada Backpackers is a reference for those looking to discover Chapada Diamantina in a safe, authentic, and sustainable way, whether on challenging treks or one-day tours from Lençóis.

Originally from Dordogne, my very first professional experience was the opportunity to work at the reception of a charming guesthouse in my hometown, Sarlat-La-Canéda.
Dordogne, a quintessentially touristic region of France, lush with nature, culture, and history, was already a hint of my inclination towards those idyllic places that we love to discover and that bring happy emotions. Thus, Chapada Diamantina became my destiny when I turned 30, leading me to fulfill myself as an independent, hardworking, and visionary man.

The creation of this establishment, Hostel Chapada Backpackers, which has become a reference hostel in the region, came about through a well-placed gamble. Without premeditation, I suddenly found myself an accomplished entrepreneur overnight. Encounters, the desire to live intensely, and the certainty that there is always at least one way out, led me to believe that luck can be created and that you must seize it when it appears. Step by step, level by level, I conquered my space, my environment, and my partners, and I knew how to unite the necessary forces so that travelers would trust my services. These services have expanded, refined, and been perfected over the years. A whole team of employees and volunteers, united and passionate, now serve the travelers, starting with my Breton partner, Éric.

As I enter this second decade of my adventure in the tourism sector, I dream of offering, in the future, even more respectful and virtuous opportunities that align with travel and discovery. The future will tell if these new desires blend well with my current business! I believe they will, and that the union of travelers and the key players in this project will lead to new, collective successes. Together !

As far as I can remember, I was always passionate about travels, adventure, and mountain hiking. When I first arrived in Chapada Diamantina, I was immediately charmed by the beauty of its very diverse nature comparable to a diamond of a thousand facets, as well as the warm welcome of its inhabitants.

Being both a traveler at heart, anthropologist, an eco-builder, a teacher, and a permaculturist, I found in Chapada the opportunity to put all my dreams and talents into practice in the heart of this magnificent mountain range, a true paradise on earth with a mild and pleasant tropical climate all year round.

It was on a beautiful day of 2018 that I decided to lay down my traveler's backpack in Lençóis to take root and take the lead of the emerging Chapada Backpackers Hostel-Agency with my business partner Thomas, with whom we are still trailing on the equally incredible adventure of entrepreneurship, supported by all our collaborators (our guides, hostel and agency staff), with whom we continue to improve our small business every day.

This is how I managed to conciliate my taste for adventure and my passion for travelling in this wonderful preserved corner of the world where life is so sweet: Viva Chapada!
