Have you ever heard of Marimbus, the famous mini-Pantanal of Chapada Diamantina? This hidden gem is a rare ecosystem where the Atlantic Forest blends with the landscapes of the cerrado and caatinga, creating a unique and vibrant environment full of life.
Our Marimbus Boat Tour takes you on a peaceful and surprising adventure along the Rio Roncador, revealing a different side of Chapada Diamantina: calm waters, lush vegetation, and a rich diversity of birds and wildlife that only this mini-Pantanal can offer. This is the perfect experience for those seeking relaxation, connection with nature, and discovery of an off-the-beaten-path environment filled with beauty and stories.
Marimbus Boat tour overview
We leave from our agency at 8:30 AM and drive for about 40 minutes to the Quilombola community of Remanso. There, we meet our local rower, who will guide us on this enchanting mini-Pantanal boat tour. Meanwhile, your guide-driver will head to Roncador Farm to meet you later.
As we paddle through this preserved stretch of the Rio Roncador, the rower shares insights into the rich flora and fauna, with special attention to the many aquatic birds that inhabit these tranquil waters. The journey through the untouched Atlantic Forest offers stunning scenery and a direct connection to nature.
After the boat ride, we take a short hike to a secluded beach by a forest lagoon — perfect for a refreshing swim after hours under the sun. This is the ideal moment to enjoy your picnic in the shade of the trees and soak in the peace of the surroundings.
The adventure continues upriver to the famous Natural Pools of Rio Roncador, one of the most iconic spots in Chapada Diamantina. The contrast between the pink rocks, crystal-clear waters, and lush greenery creates the perfect setting for swimming, relaxing, or cliff jumping for the more adventurous.
We end the day with a gentle walk along a trail that crosses typical cerrado landscapes, wetlands, and sandy stretches, before driving back to Lençóis with the feeling of having lived a truly unforgettable day.
