Hike overview
WWe start our adventure departing from Lençóis around 8 a.m. After just a 20-minute drive on a dirt road, we arrive at the trailhead for Mandassaia Waterfall and Lapão Cave.
Right from the start, an unforgettable stop: Mandassaia Waterfall. After just a few minutes of walking, we are rewarded with a powerful water jet that creates a natural hydromassage, perfect for recharging your energy.
We continue descending the valley until we reach the charming Ferradura Waterfall, a nearly secret spot surrounded by lush vegetation, where the water forms a “U” shape that embraces visitors. It feels like a place out of a fairy tale — just watch out for the slippery stones!
The trail then gently ascends to the next highlight: Lapão Cave. Entering this cave is like passing through a portal to another world: quartzite galleries and impressive formations that shine when illuminated by flashlights, creating magical reflections.
The exit is through another cave entrance, followed by a peaceful trail back to Lençóis, concluding this incredible experience in the heart of Chapada Diamantina.
