MIXILA trek Overview

Capivari Pool and its Waterfall (15 meters)

Day 1

  • Distance: 7 km

  • Starting Altitude: 330 m

  • Maximum Altitude: 740 m

  • Minimum Altitude: 330 m

The day begins with a departure from the lodge at 7:30 AM in a 4x4 vehicle, which takes us to the riverbank of Capivara after a 30-minute drive on dirt roads. The trail starts with a 1.5-hour climb on rocky terrain, followed by gentler paths through shrubland. Upon reaching the campsite, we enjoy a picnic by the river and a well-deserved swim before heading to the picturesque Capivari Waterfall for another refreshing dip. In the late afternoon, we return to the campsite to set up tents while the guide prepares a hearty dinner over a wood fire.

Mixila Canyon and Waterfall (80 meters)

Day 2

  • Distance: 11 km

  • Starting Altitude: 600 m

  • Maximum Altitude: 900 m

  • Minimum Altitude: 330 m

The second day begins with a generous breakfast before entering the mysterious Mixila Canyon. This is a true adventure: participants must tread carefully due to the slippery stones on the canyon floor and cross the river by swimming multiple times as walking continuously along one bank is not possible.

After 1.5 hours of this “swim-hiking,” we finally catch sight of the mystical Mixila Waterfall after a bend in the cliff. It resembles a paradise illustration, with its delicate curtain of water resembling ever-moving lace, illuminated by the midday sun. We spend some time swimming in the waterfall and savoring its beauty before returning to the campsite for a picnic by the river and another invigorating swim. After lunch, we begin the descent along the same path back to the Capivari River, where our 4x4 awaits to take us back to Lençóis.
